For those of you that don’t know, the insanely talented Lauren Worsham, of GGLAM fame, is the lead singer of a band called Sky-Pony. She and her husband, Kyle Jarrow, along with some of her friends comprise the band and they are absolutely amazing. Think Broadway theatricality meets indie rock. It’s awesome.
We saw them back in November at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn and immediately decided to buy tickets for their show at Joe’s Pub. Needless to say, it was a good decision.
After seeing Joshua Henry at Joe’s Pub back in September, we were familiar with the drill and the venue and made better seating choices. (Also, we have our food orders down to a science. A word of advice: get the soft serve. It’s our favorite!)
I love the intimacy of Joe’s Pub. It’s such a great venue for events like this and their food is pretty decent, too. My only complaint is that we couldn’t jam out like at the Knitting Factory, but that’s okay.
“Say You Love Me Like You Mean It” is probably my favorite song. Though I loved that she brought Catherine Walker and Lisa O’Hare as guests to sing with her. Their “Little Red Riding Hood” was adorable. Also, Duncan Shiek was a pretty awesome guest, too.
We purchased CDs after the show from their merch table, but they can also be found on iTunes and Spotify. If you get the chance, I highly recommend them. I know they have a couple more shows coming up soon.
